Kids for Conservation

April 7 | 9:00 am - April 9 | 12:00 pm

The Kids for Conservation program at Port Moresby Nature Park is a signature school holiday initiative designed to transform children into young wildlife guardians. It blends hands-on outdoor exploration with educational sessions focused on Papua New Guinea’s unique biodiversity.

Kids for Conservation Holiday Program

This program typically runs during school holiday periods (such as January and April) and is specifically tailored to engage young minds in environmental stewardship through interactive learning.

  1. Educational Focus: Children delve into the realms of nature and culture, learning about the park’s 550+ native animal species and the importance of preserving PNG’s flora and fauna.
  2. Behind-the-Scenes Access: Sessions often include “behind-the-scenes” tours, allowing participants to see what it takes to run a leading conservation facility and care for resident animals.
  3. Interactive Activities: The curriculum typically includes nature walks, wildlife-themed games, and craft activities designed to be both fun and impactful.
  4. Certification: Upon completion of the program, participants are often awarded a “Kids for Conservation Certificate” to recognize their learning and commitment to the environment.

Planning Your Visit

  1. Age Groups: The program is generally designed for children aged 6 to 13.
  2. Session Times: Programs usually run as half-day sessions (e.g., 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM).
  3. Bookings: Due to high popularity and limited spots (often restricted to 20 children per day), advanced booking through the park’s reservation team is essential.
